MBA in India vs MBA abroad. Which is better?

Sameer Kamat, founder of MBA Crystal Ball, covers all you need to know about the advantages, disadvantages, pros and cons of studying abroad in an international university vs studying in India.

He covers the differences in fees, salaries, costs, classmates, in 2-year MBA in India (like IIM) versus an MBA in USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Europe. It'll help you decide whether CAT MBA is better than GMAT MBA for you.

And don't miss our non-diplomatic recommendation in the end.

Hi Rajvi, your question is a little unclear. Are you currently completing your engineering in India or in Canada? If you’re in India right now, it’ll be difficult to get a job in Canada (or any other country) unless you already have a network in that country.

Sir, I have completed my graduation in psychology (hons.) and want to pursue MBA in HR. I had HR as add on course duration my graduation.. Could it help me to get some good job..? In which field I should search for job please suggest.

You shouldn’t pursue MBA to get a job. You should get a job first and then pursue MBA. An MBA without real experience is of hardly any use.
Even if you have the degree, doesn’t mean you know how to run a business.
BEING a manager and WORKING as a manager are two vastly different aspects.

Dear Speaker, Thank you for sharing your valuable thoughts.

I am MBA Finance from VTU university India & working in Dubai. I’am really looking for a proper guidance & open talk regarding my confusions. As I work as an Accountant here, not really interested much in this field. I would like to work for Investment banking or other Finance filed rather then purely into accounts. Hence would like to seek your advice that, is there any relevant course I can do along side my job which has good scope and also will help me in terms of good pay scale back in Indiaother western countries?

thanks , great video , very helpful, i have one query do the prospects of MBA are bounded by the place we do it from, like a UK MBA won’t helpful in australia or USA and a USA MBA won’t be have good work prospects in other countries like uk ? or it more dependent on the global recognition of different b schools ? also can a MBA program have good career prospects in one particular country but not globally ?

Hi Sir, I am so greatful for ur videos …I have a question I am giving my GRE in January last week what are the chances to apply in Canada as well as in US . Is it too late to apply ..what are the deadlines n all .I am very new to this process if you can guide me I would be really thankful

    1. MBA Crystal Ball

Yes, it’ll be late to start the application process after you get your score in January. You’ll be forced to apply in Round 3, which isn’t a good idea. Check out the official MBA websites to find the dates. Maybe you’ll find some that are still accepting international applications after Jan.

Most IT companies have a hierarchy where employees with potential become team leads and then module or project managers. Those are considered managerial roles. A lot of IT engineers who work with us highlight that experience in their applications.

@chetan arora We’ve seen folks over 30 managing a career change after MBA (I did it too), but as mentioned earlier it will not be a walk in the park. Make sure you understand the risks and rewards before taking the plunge.
